Therapy with Shawna

I offer online therapy that meets you where you are — at your rhythm, in your language, and with care for the realities you carry.
We work collaboratively to explore what feels urgent, stuck, or confusing, and to reconnect you with your inner resources.

My approach

Rooted in both art psychotherapy and somatic psychology, my approach supports deep, integrative change with awareness of the complexities of trauma and chronic stress. My practice is grounded in creating a safe, non-judgmental, and inclusive space where you can arrive as you are.

I understand art as a living practice of meaning-making — a way to bring what is felt inside into relation with the world around you. Through creative process, we can externalize what resists language, make the unseen more visible, and open space for new perspectives to unfold.

I work with the mind and body as an interconnected system, where thoughts, emotions, and sensations are in constant dialogue. Attending to these layers together can illuminate patterns, shift perception, and support more coherent ways of being.

    Experiences

" This was my first time trying art therapy, and I came to it after years of growing restless with other purely talk-based forms of therapy… The body movement work we have done has been fantastic and it has been fascinating to look back at my artwork over time and see clear patterns and a journey that I have experienced. ”

" She is the first therapist I have felt completely comfortable with, enough to speak up about what I need in a particular session or moment. And she’s always so encouraging and receptive that it’s reinforced the importance of doing that...Shawna has maintained between validating my assessment of my life situations while also providing concrete examples that challenge those assessments. ”

" It is like artistic counseling for my life, an honest and clear conversation with my emotions. Shawna has a very particular openness and sensibility, which makes it easier for me to navigate through the vast universe of emotions and experiences. ”
